They share a name, but their import workflows are different. A .qbo file is a Web Connect file; it is not a QuickBooks company backup.
No. The formats share OFX structure, but a .qbo file needs the right account and financial institution fields. This tool parses your QFX, checks the transactions, and writes a new Web Connect file. A valid QFX institution ID is not a guarantee of QuickBooks compatibility.
Single-account, posted USD transactions for checking, savings and credit cards. Both OFX 1.x SGML and standard OFX 2.x XML bank statement structures are supported. Investment accounts, pending entries, correction instructions and multi-account files are rejected.
Yes. QFX and CSV conversion is free, with no account or payment required. Each file can contain up to 10,000 transactions and be no larger than 2 MB.
The converter reads and processes file contents in browser memory. We do not upload those contents, use them to train AI, or save them in a database. Hosting providers still receive normal web requests when you load the website.
QuickBooks Online can accept CSV, QFX and QBO files directly. Try its native upload first if your file is already supported. This converter is most useful when you specifically need a Web Connect .qbo file, especially for a supported QuickBooks Desktop edition.
QuickBooks Desktop can reject a file if its Intuit Bank ID is missing, outdated or not supported for Web Connect. Use the identifiers from a working QBO download for your actual bank. We do not substitute another bank’s identity.
No. We validate the file structure, required fields, dates and amounts, but import acceptance also depends on your bank and supported QuickBooks version. End-to-end QuickBooks import testing has not yet been completed for this release. Always back up and test a small date range first.
